As the third volume in the Birthing the Luminous Self trilogy, We are the Awakening Christ completes the journey of realizing that the essence of each of us is a luminous Self -- an enlightened, God-realized, and fully healed, whole, and alive human being. This is the culmination of the human experience, the sweet, precious fruit of our many lifetimes in embodiment. To experience the most complete understanding of what is shared in this book, we recommend reading the first two volumes in the series before embarking on the journey this final one imparts.
Volume One of the Luminous Self trilogy, Soul Awakening: The Journey from Ego to Essence, employs stories from our own lives to illustrate the many phases and facets of awakening to the soul. More than anything, this book emphasizes the central importance of establishing a direct, conscious connection with our inner divinity. When that is cultivated and deepened through regularly resting within our innermost sanctum, we gain access to the unlimited love, compassion, healing power, and wisdom of the soul and its larger home, the oversoul. Since each soul is an individuated spark of the One Great Flame of Life, everything contained within our Source lives within us in latent form, just waiting to be fully realized and expressed. Soul Awakening distills the all-important process of coming home to the true Self. At the heart of this book lies the conscious soul communion process we have used during countless sessions and groups to facilitate reconnecting with our core divinity. Working with this process over time facilitates the shift of the ground of our being from the ego~personality to the soul. It also provides a stable inner foundation that serves us well throughout the challenges of daily life, as well as the larger evolutionary processes at work in us all during this potent time on the planet. This reconnection with our essential self forms the basis of all that comes afterward in our spiritual evolution. As we realize we are facets of the Divine, we discover the unique soul-gifts we are here to offer our fellow beings and the Earth herself. We come to know that we are divine conduits, or Agents of Grace, the title of the second volume in this series. As we recognize our true identity as souls in the human experience, ever more of the endless capacities of Source pour through us to make life more wonderful for others. As we awaken, our heart opens and we feel compassion for all beings, especially those who are suffering. Divine presence fills us to overflowing, and naturally pours out of us to assist others to awaken and go beyond their pain. In Agents of Grace: Fulfilling our Destiny, Blessing the World, we share specific ways to heighten the ability to bless others near and far. The Transmissions of Grace form the core of this book. Along with descriptions of each transmission and the soul center it activates, the book offers suggestions to enhance sharing these energetic blessings with people, animals, structures, geographical areas, and the Earth as a whole. When we step into consciously, intentionally functioning as agents of grace, our sense of who and what we are spirals into new levels of presence and possibility. Ultimately, we realize we are here to take this human experience as far as it can go. Searching the world’s great spiritual traditions, we seek models of humans who have fully embodied the Divine. And we find them, in famous realized beings such as Gautama Buddha, Lord Krishna, Mohammed, and Jesus Christ, as well as lesser-known marvels like Ramalinga Swami. Each of these beings, along with others known and unknown, demonstrated the last step in birthing the luminous Self -- the full realization of the God-essence that is our true nature. While all great spiritual beings have served as icons of possibility for humanity, in our estimation the life of Christ Jesus expressed the fullest realization of the spiritual achievements of all avatars, saints, sages and mystics from all paths and traditions throughout human history. Something inexpressibly profound happened when the mortal, fallible man named Jesus became the eternal Christ. Jesus’ resurrection and ascension confirmed his complete embodiment of the Divine and demonstrated it for all to see. This being walked a path that took him beyond all human limitation -- a path that all of us will eventually traverse, in our own unique ways, through the Second Coming and beyond. What does it mean, and what does it ask of us, to take this human experience to its ultimate expression? That is the question this book seeks to answer. In our own lives, the exploration that eventuated in this book began decades ago. As readers of our first book will recall, neither of us was particularly thrilled with what we found in the Christian churches of our youth. Just as it has with countless others, our disaffection with Christianity led to a search for meaning that traversed the globe and immersed us in many of the world’s spiritual traditions. After decades spent exploring all kinds of metaphysical teachings and practices, we could never have predicted that our quest would bring us full circle, back to the profound grace of the Christ as expressed through the historical man known as Jesus or Yeshua. Since before we met in the late 1980s, Barry had been on a journey with the Christ. Knowing that I deeply mourned the atrocities committed over the centuries in the name of the Christ and had long ago given up on Christianity, Barry rarely talked about the blessings he had received from the Christ. Yet within a short time after we were brought together, the blessing-grace of the Christ spontaneously began to manifest in my own life as well. I had no choice but to acknowledge that there was something profound going on, something I had never before encountered in my decades of spiritual searching. And the Christ was clearly at the heart of it all. Slowly, over time, I found myself entering into a direct and personal relationship with this emanation of the Divine, initially as the formless, Universal Christ and then through Christ Jesus. Longstanding resistance melted as I witnessed the healings that occurred when the Christ was invoked during the soul-awakening sessions Barry and I facilitated. When challenging issues arose in my own life, I called to the Christ for assistance. It never failed to arrive. Over time, the truth of the statement made by Jesus, “Of my own self I can do nothing. The Father in me does all,” was revealed. I knew my little, human self was totally incapable of bringing about what unfolded, both in sessions and in my own life. Of the three volumes in the Birthing the Luminous Self series, this is the book that is closest to Barry’s heart. In fact, the majority of it is a direct emanation of his heart and soul. Since much of this volume recounts Barry’s experiences with the Christ, it is written in his voice. Occasionally I enter in to tell a story of my own, but overall, what you are about to read centers on the journey into understanding the profound gift the Christ brought to this planet that Barry has been on since before we met. Barry likes to say that although he has functioned as the lightning rod to receive a lot of the information contained in this book, it was the combined presence of the two of us that allowed this to occur. He feels that I have held the deep, feminine space that enabled him to receive these continuous evolutionary impulses and not be fried to a crisp in the process. This feminine container, he says, helped to ground him so this entire journey in consciousness could happen. It also enabled the higher understandings to manifest in our daily lives. Everything in this book has been lived -- it is not abstract or theoretical. The awarenesses Barry received were simultaneously expressed in my own life as spontaneous transformations in my way of being. Barry says I embodied what he was receiving. This, he adds, reflects our combined energy as a dyad, or twin souls. Readers of our previous books will recognize some of the stories told here. They have been recast in this volume to illustrate facets of the process of awakening to the energy~consciousness of the Christ, both as the Universal and Cosmic Christ and the planetary Christ, Jesus. Each story in particular, and the book as a whole, contains a living transmission of the Universal Christ presence. Contemplating the stories will further awaken the true, divine Self, the God or Christ, latent within. Here, the stories are told in shorter form and from a new perspective, one that unifies the themes explored in our previous books with their final outpicturing as described in this last volume in the series. Those themes include the collective awakening to the true Self that is underway all around the globe, stepping into our role as agents of grace who are here to bless the world with our presence and our divine gifts, and realizing our true nature as part of the Christ level of being, the epitome of the human experience. We also discuss how the historical Jesus, who became a Christ, fits into this picture, and distinguish the real Christ from the image the religion called Christianity that grew up around his teachings has presented to the world. The last section of the book explores a macro perspective on our individual and collective journeys through the dimensional shift as a luminous, Christ-conscious species is born on an Edenic, higher-dimensional Earth. This book was written for those who know they are here to fully realize their divine nature as aspects of God/One/Source and bring it into embodiment on this sacred Earth. Our lives have formed a living laboratory in which the small, limited, human self is gradually, and at times dramatically, being reabsorbed into the vast, eternal Self. In our previous books, we have shared our experiences of some of the archetypal passages along the way, and more will be found here, as we relate profound awakenings to the Christ Consciousness. These accounts offer a living transmission designed to induct the reader into the same states, to the degree that is possible and appropriate at the time. As always, we recommend merging with the stories as you might with an enthralling movie. If it feels right, project your being into the experience as though you are there. In the reality of oneness, all of our journeys are gifts to one another. To consciously realize this and receive the gifts we offer each other can only accelerate our voyage homeward. Every journey contains pivotal experiences that encapsulate what the entire exploration is about. Each of these moments is like seed crystal -- a pure, distilled essence that can only be understood and realized as that essence reveals itself over time. The experience that holds the seed essence for this book happened to Barry before we were brought together, on a sunny spring day in 1987 on the Garden Island of Kauai. |
